Sydney and Will Hewitt started Coast & Cotton sometime in 2014, but really did not get going until 2015. Will had just transitioned from active duty military service and needed a job, so he asked Sydney to help him find something to do. Hoping to avoid spending all of their time together, Sydney set Will up with a printer and a lamp in the corner of their laundry room and told him to “get to work makin’ some towels for me.” Not really understanding how things worked outside of the military, Will blindly followed his new orders and forsook everything else in his life.
Almost 10 years later, Will is still printing towels, but now he gets to do it on a bigger machine in a bigger laundry room. Sydney and Will have 3 kids, who know their father as “this guy who prints towels for my mom.” They moved the operation to Auburn, AL in 2019, where Sydney started roping other people’s college-aged children into her towel thing. The joke might finally be on her, though, because you can’t actually get college kids to do anything they don’t want to do.
When she is not telling everybody what to do, Sydney finds time to create more designs for Will to print. Most of them are inspired by her own American experience, but sometimes she considers what other people have going on, too. Her designs are actually pretty cute. There are just so dang many of them.
You can find Coast & Cotton towels in locally-owned shops throughout the US, in just about every state. Some designs are in our online store as well, but please buy them from a mom & pop who took the time and effort to work with Sydney if you're able (she can be really exhausting).
Thanks for stopping by. We sincerely appreciate your support. Let us know if you are ever in our area so we can get you to help us with a little wrapping or maybe even some printing. It will be fun, promise.
Until then,
The Coast & Cotton Print & IT Department
